Are Dreams Hallucinations During Sleep or Hallucinations Waking Dreams?, 2011 

Plender’s installation explores vestiges of mysticism, spiritualism and colonialism in Folkestone. The artist worked with local amateur actors as well as a professional actress for her two films, which were screened daily in the Masonic Hall’s Great Lodge, a site normally restricted to members only. An installation of related objects as well as a specially produced graphic novel accompanied the installation.
