Take Up Space Festival
Take Up Space Festival 2024
Welcome to the 3rd Take Up Space festival which continues to build on 10 years of International Women’s Day events In Folkestone.
The programme of contemporary arts, performance, live music, talks, and projects sits alongside a homegrown programme of local artists workshops and projects that invites audiences and participants into meaningful engagement with the arts and community whilst provoking inquiry into wider issues of women’s equity and lived experiences. This year’s festival theme is The Female Gaze.
Take Up Space Festival is curated and organised by Folkestone Women’s Forum.
Many of the events in the festival are free to attend with the option of ‘Pay What You Can’ tickets at £5, £10, £20. We trust you to make your own judgement about what is affordable for you across the festival - we don’t want you to miss events because of cost BUT contributions are gratefully received. All proceeds go towards the running of the festival or future Folkestone Women’s Forum events.
This year’s festival is supported by Arts Council England, The Roger de Haan Charitable Trust, Creative Folkestone, Folkestone and Hythe District Council, the generous supporters of Folkestone Women’s Forum crowdfund campaign.
Connect, collaborate, gain strength and support each other to tackle patriarchy and to Take Up Space!
