Candida Wright
Candida moved to Folkestone in 2006 attracted by the beautiful topography of rotund hills, cliffs, undercliffs and spaces to develop her work in the Creative Quarter. She has been inspired by chalk hills since her childhood in the Chilterns, the bump and hollow of the Kent Downs continue to inform her sculpture. Stone carving is where she’s found her artistic language.
She studied first at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Fine Art – BA Hons and more recently in fine art sculpture particularly stone carving with Sculptor Patrick Crouch, becoming a member of his sculpture group Pure Form in Canterbury.
She exhibits regularly, taking part in the 2006 London Bienale, the artists’ group White Shed in Folkestone including The Grand Hotel and most recently with Patrick Crouch’s Pure Form sculpture group, exibiting stone carving in The Salutation Gardens, Sandwich, Burgate in Canterbury and with Qreatives artists’ group in Georges House Gallery, Folkestone.
Candida will consider commisions for sculpture.
