The Biggest Christmas Lights Switch On Event This Town Has Seen!
This winter we present our biggest Christmas switch on event yet! We are delighted to be combining the Creative Quarter switch on with Folkestone town centre, presenting a night of festive fun, light and fireworks! This year we welcome best-selling author Jonathan Coe who will switch on the Creative Quarter lights at 5.30pm.
As well as choirs, a lantern parade and fireworks, the Creative Quarter will also be celebrating with the launch of the Christmas Window Display Competition, special offers, open studios, exhibitions and more! You will also have the opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early with Creative Quarter shops staying open until 7pm!

This year Folkestone will switch on its Christmas lights in style with a massive parade, carols, music, happenings and a spectacular firework display!
4pm
Join Father Christmas and his lantern parade at Leas Cliff Hall, accompanied by community choirs, music bands, school children and their families, bell ringers and a pantomime cast.
4.30pm
The parade will reach Folkestone Town Hall where the Town Mayor will switch on the Sandgate Road lights, surrounded by the beautiful voices of the Kent Military Community Choir, Shepway Singers and with Father Christmas handing out gifts.
5.30pm
The lantern procession will reach The Old High Street, where award winning author, and the opening act of this year’s Folkestone Book Festival, Jonathan Coe will switch on the Creative Quarter’s Christmas Lights, with carols from community choirs. The Creative Quarter shops and artists’ studios will all keep their doors open and you can even vote for your favourite window display and win £100 worth of vouchers to spend in the Quarter.
6.30pm
A spectacular firework display will officially welcome the festive season to the town of Folkestone. Don’t miss it! The parade will lead you to the Harbour area and The Stade, the best position to witness the grand finale of the day, with music from the Snowdown Colliery Brass Band.
