Saturday 8 July
Starts 2pm on The Stade
Folkestone's very own street carnival returns celebrating its 21st year! Dance alongside the parade of hundreds of costumes from the fishmarket to The Leas. The parade is all on foot and the amazing costumes all have the 2017 Folkestone Triennial theme double edge. There will be incredible, noisy streetbands all the way from The Stade, up The Old High Street, through the town centre and onto West Terrace where the carnival will make its leisurely way to The Leas. This year coincides with the Battle of Britain flypast, which will be happening at 4pm on The Leas and the carnival music programme will follow with brilliant headliners Steve Boltz and Dead Man's Corner from 4.20pm - 6 pm.
This a free event, so come along, bring your picnic and have an amazing afternoon with Strange Cargo and the rest of Folkestone.
The whole Charivari process is energised by the incredible community and school groups who, along with Strange Cargo's talented carnival artist team, will be making this year’s event a huge success. More than 600 fabulously extravagant costumed revellers will parade through the streets of Folkestone!
