Bottom of The Old High Street
Saturday 16 June, 11.30am - 12pm
The Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health showcases one of its successful legacy projects, Folkestone Singing for Health choir, which started life as a research project in 2009, funded by the Centre. This ever-expanding vibrant community choir, now fully self-funding and run by Members, uses singing together to support and maintain health. Not only is singing an instant boost to mood and wellbeing, but research carried out at the Sidney De Haan Research Centre demonstrates that it reduces breathlessness, improves speech and vocal strength, reduces levels of depression and anxiety, and provides an antidote to social isolation – and the only side effect is fun! Come and hear us enjoy ourselves, but – be warned – singing is highly contagious!
