Subliminal flux is a series of abstract paintings, exploring the complexity of movement, space and time. Applying Folkestone’s changing land/city scapes to her practice, Han immerses herself in the idea of the ‘sedentry’ and ‘nomad’; this exhibition explores the relationship between still and moving space and how the two interact. The paintings are more a by product of the actions and decisions that are made when the painting tools interact with the canvas. Allowing the artist to paint in a way that is distanced from reality, concentrating on subconscious primal behaviour; as in, marks are made through gestures and sensations (gut feelings).
