20 September – 21 November 2019
Following successful 2018 dates, New Queers On The Block returns for a fresh UK tour this autumn.
2019’s NQOTB showcases full-length live art and dance pieces from renowned performers plus local artists at each destination. NQOTB is also the Marlborough Theatre’s flagship touring project as Brighton’s foremost LGBTQ+ venue continues to build on its successful track record of bold, high-calibre programming.
Marikiscrycrycry, Oozing Gloop, Nando Messias, Sea Sharp, Benjamin Sebastian, Last Yearz Interesting Negro (Jamila Johnson-Small) and Subira Wahogo amongst others, travel to Folkestone, Bradford, Blackpool, Hastings plus London and Birmingham.
While travelling, the NQOTB team have been working with communities at each location to commission and develop local artists. Ultimately the NQOTB concept creates ways in which local LGBTQ+ communities can interact with neighbouring performance spaces and collaborate.
NQOTB has been developed and delivered in partnership with Bradford’s Theatre in the Mill, Folkestone Quarterhouse, Home Live Art, Left Coast. NQOTB is funded by the Arts Council England, Jerwood Arts, Unlimited & Esmeé Fairban.
