As part of our Open Sesame programme of activity we have been offering the windows of Quarterhosue as a funded gallery space for artists to get creative.
Open Sesame: Street animates the ground floor windows of Quarterhouse with the work of artists and creatives from the town. We have hosted some brilliant artist so far and that continues this month with two new artists.
First up is fine art photographer & film maker Alexander. Probably. Their work explores themes of transience, memory, veracity and psychogeography. For Open Sesame Alexander. Probably presents Your Entire Existence is a Futile Waste of Time which explores the veracity of the photographic image and the transient nature of our existence through physicality, performance and psychogeography. For the most part it focuses on key locations of death, decay and destruction brought about by human action, asking you to question your own existence.
Then we have Tell Me About Your Mother, a multi-disciplinary arts collective that works with the aim of drawing together live music, experimental audio and visual arts, in both a traditional live music setting and through art festival installations. The Balloon is their latest immersive project, playfully exploring the impermanence of memory and the after-effects of childhood fears.
On your daily walk during lockdown 3.0 take a stroll down Tontine Street and see the latest displays in the Quarterhouse windows.
