This summer, Creative Folkestone Book Festival will return. The Shape of Things to Come will present an exciting and inspiring programme of events online, in-person and outdoors. Because of this there will be a change to the way we ticket the festival.
There are a number of ways you can book to enjoy this year’s Folkestone Book Festival, including:
Folkestone Book Festival Digital Pass
Ticket price: £15 (10% discount for Members)
After the success of Autumn Reads, we are hosting the whole festival online allowing more people than ever before to enjoy the festival from the comfort of their own home. With your festival pass you will be granted access to all events online via AirMeet – a virtual festival platform.
Once you have booked your festival pass you will be contacted by our team with all the information you need with how to access events. The first 300 tickets will also receive a physical pack with additional materials about the festival at no extra cost.
By booking a digital pass you will be able to access all the talks and events and revisit anything you missed for up to a week after the festival.

Like you, we can’t wait for live events and to welcome you back to Quarterhouse. But our main priority is your safety so we are offering a limited number of tickets for live events at this year’s Folkestone Book Festival. Live event tickets separate to the digital pass and tickets are sold separately so that we can distribute live tickets fairly.
We are doing all we can to ensure returning to Quarterhouse is as safe as possible. For more information on how we are doing this click here.
Live events include:
- Hanif Kureishi
- Luke Harding
- John Kampfner

Screened events
Ticket price: £3 (10% discount for Members)
Due to travel restrictions and shielding not all the authors are able to travel and be here in person. However, through the magic of technology we are able to stream authors directly to the Quarterhouse auditorium.
As the authors will not be here in person, we are offering these screenings at a reduced rate to make it better value to you.
Screened events include:
- Horatio Clare
- Roisin Kibred
- Martin Wolf
- Nick Bryant
- Otegha Uwagba

Beckett in Folkestone
Ticket price: £10 (10% discount for Members)
As part of the festival programme we are proud to present an immersive promenade event for one person at a time that explores a little known piece of Folkestone’s history. In 1961, Samuel Beckett got married here in Folkestone and for this event three writers will imagine what Beckett got up to.
This event is for a single person at a time and will involve a walk from the Clifton Hotel through the town and ending at Folkestone Library. Click here for more information about Beckett in Folkestone.
Our aim is to offer a range of ways for people to take part and enjoy this year’s festival in a safe and easy way. We have done our best to make sure that as many people as possible can get involved this year. Throughout the festival there will be an opportunity for you to offer insights and feedback for ways in which we can grow the festival and improve the way we present events online and in person.
