Drummers of Folkestone! We want to hear from you!
Are you a drummer or part of a drumming band? Would you like to take part in a momentous, spirited, outdoor drumming performance in Payers Park to mark the end of Creative Folkestone Triennial 2021?
How it will work:
The rehearsals and performance will be directed by the brilliant musicians Kevin Richards and Simon Lee. They’ll be a collaborative process to create a street rhythm using drumming and percussion instruments from a variety of cultures. Bring along your own instruments if you can (within the limits of easy portability), for example hand drums, snares, surdos, samba and African percussion, but drums can be provided if needed.
You will need to be able to attend at least two of the following rehearsal dates and it will be essential to attend the Final Rehearsal and Performance.
We welcome drummers aged 14+ of all abilities and styles.
Timetable:
Rehearsal 1: Sunday 24 October, 10am - 12pm
Rehearsal 2: Wednesday 27 October, 10am - 12pm
Rehearsal 3: Friday 29 October, 10am - 12pm
Final Rehearsal: Sunday 31 October, 10am - 12pm
Performance: Tuesday 2 November
Drummers to gather at Folkestone Quarterhouse for rehearsal at 3.15pm and be in position in Payers Park for 4.15pm.
