Are you a musician, music teacher, music therapist, spoken word artist, electronic artist or dancer who is uncomfortable improvising but wants to give it a go? Join singer, cabaret artist and composer Anna Braithwaite for a workshop for women (trans & non-binary inclusive) who think they can’t improvise. Anna wants to address the under-representation of women in musical improvisation & composition by encouraging women already working in music (spoken word, electronics and dance) to take the plunge into improvisation, unlocking their potential as creators. She will lead exercises in confidence building and ‘listening’ with a focus on experimental performance.
Please bring your instrument/tools to this practical session.
Participants from the first workshop may stay to observe the later session.
