Documentary is a medium that in the last five years has exploded across cinemas and at home. The new monthly Quarterhouse Doc Club is a film club hosted by Violet Pictures devoted to showing documentaries from mainstream to experimental, historical and contemporary, with a discussion after each screening.
For the inaugural Doc Club, Kartemquin Films and Violet Pictures present the first ever cinema release of the newly restored 16mm print of the 1968 film Inquiring Nuns. Directed by Gordon Quinn & Jerry Temaner with music by Philip Glass, Inquiring Nuns is a beloved but unknown gem of pure cinéma vérité in which Sister Marie Arné and Sister Mary Campion tour Chicago during the Summer of Love, asking: “Are you happy?”
