Even award-winning restaurant critics have their secret foodie pleasures – those comfort foods and guilty pleasures eaten alone at the end of a long day.
Join the Guardian’s restaurant critic Grace Dent for a lively, informal discussion with Times food columnist and author Niki Segnit about snack choices and what they might reveal– including about some of the famous guests on Grace’s podcast (and now book) Comfort Eating.
Grace Dent was named Restaurant Writer of the Year at the 2022 Fortnum & Mason Food Awards, and her 2020 memoir Hungry won the Lakeland Book Prize and Fortnum Book Award. She regularly appears on MasterChef UK and presents Best of Britain by the Sea with TV cook Ainsley Harriott.
Niki Segnit is the author of Lateral Cooking, The Flavour Thesaurus and The Flavour Thesaurus: More Flavours.

Folkestone Book Festival is our annual celebration of books, ideas, reading and writing in its many magical forms. This year's festival has been curated by Jen Thatcher and James Harkin. Curating the festival for the first time, Jen and James have been inspired by Folkestone and how we can all come together through inspired discussion about global ideas, global thinking and possible futures.
