Local performer and composer Anna Braithwaite has been a feature at Profound Sound since our first festival in 2016. Creating inspired and unconventional live performances to a packed-out room we expect this year to be no different.
‘In The Loop’ is the latest manifestation of an ongoing, iterative project intended to continually metamorphose and develop in unexpected directions. Expect a unique one-off performance where warped tape loops, fine art, voice and dance spontaneously interprets the music in real-time. Making it unclear who is leading who, watch and listen to Anna Braithwaite, artist Helen Lindon and dancer Luke Birch react to each other live, creating multiple feedback loops until the process becomes completely egalitarian.
Following ‘In The Loop’, 'Fag Break' is a musical game which will be performed by musicians Rebecca Askew and Anna Braithwaite and two randomly self-selected audience members. As with many games, it is an interplay between playing by the rules and blind chance, but unlike most compositions it sounds different each time it’s played. Each person has their instructions but nothing happens until the dice is rolled.
This second incarnation will also be site-specific that has been specially adapted for the Quarterhouse and Profound Sound Festival.
