For SALT Festival 2016, we hosted a discussion entitled Is Climate Change Above the Law? Since then, Greta Thunberg and the Extinction Rebellion movement have erupted onto the scene and non-violent, disruptive civil disobedience is on the rise.
Life on Earth is in crisis: Scientists agree we have entered a period of climate breakdown, and we are in the midst of mass extinction of our own making. Conventional approaches of voting, lobbying and petitions have failed because powerful political and economic interests prevent change. Is climate change therefore, above the law?
