Jason Sandy & Nigel Richardson: Hidden Treasures
Sorry, this event has sold out
Always dreamed of buried treasures? This event promises to unveil the secrets of finding extraordinary artefacts in the most unexpected places from two writers who are dedicated to their unusual hobbies – mudlarking and metal detecting.
Join Jason Sandy, author of Mudlarks: Treasures from the Thames, as he takes you on an exhilarating journey along the River Thames. Jason’s captivating tales will reveal not only the historical artefacts he’s unearthed but also the personal treasures that lie waiting just beneath the surface, each with its own unique story to tell.
He will be joined by Nigel Richardson, author of The Accidental Detectorist: Uncovering an Underground Obsession, who brings a fresh perspective on the joys and surprises of exploring the great outdoors. Nigel’s reflections on the thrill of discovery will spark conversations about place, belonging and the connection we have with the landscapes we explore.
This riveting discussion will be chaired by Dr Lindsay Banfield of the Canterbury Archaeological Trust, who leads exciting digs in Folkestone at East Wear Bay. Lindsay will guide this engaging conversation, exploring the responsibilities that come with unearthing treasures from our shared history.
Whether you’re an avid treasure hunter or simply curious about the hidden stories beneath our feet, this event promises to ignite your imagination and fill you with a sense of wonder. Come ready to explore the untold secrets of our past and perhaps find inspiration for your own treasure-hunting adventures!
