These talented storytellers, each with a unique perspective on motherhood, will share their insights and experiences.

Two BBC National Short Story Award winners – the Irish writer Lucy Caldwell, who lives in Folkestone, and Naomi Wood, who grew up in Hong Kong – will delve into their literary explorations of uncooperative mothers, blending humour and heartache in their narratives.

Acclaimed Chinese writer Yan Ge, whose English language debut short story collection came out last year, will bring a fresh perspective to the conversation. This event promises an engaging discussion on the complexities of maternal relationships and the challenges of balancing family dynamics with shifting identities.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from three accomplished short story writers as they delve into the intricate roles of mothers in literature – whether you’re drawn to storytelling, interested in cultural narratives, or simply curious about the creative process.
