Book this event online or email the box office at boxoffice@creativefolkestone.org.uk
Get ready for an unforgettable evening with comedian, author and library champion Robin Ince, in this special headline event dedicated to the joy and power of libraries.
Robin Ince is celebrated not only for his razor-sharp wit and unique comedic style but also for his passionate advocacy for books and the role libraries play in our communities. Co-host of the award-winning podcast The Infinite Monkey Cage alongside Professor Brian Cox, and author of the new Bibliomaniac: An Obsessive’s Tour of the Bookshops of Britain, Robin’s deep love of literature and his lively storytelling have captured audiences around the country. In Bibliomaniac, he chronicles his travels across the UK, celebrating bookshops and libraries as cornerstones of creativity, culture and connection.
As Folkestone continues to feel the loss of its library, which closed in December 2022, Robin’s words resonate now more than ever. In his performance, he’ll blend laugh-out-loud anecdotes with heartfelt insights on the irreplaceable value libraries bring to towns like ours. His wit and passion make him an incredible advocate for the power of books and community spaces, and this event will highlight why libraries need to be reopened and revitalised as hubs of knowledge and inspiration.
Expect a night filled with Robin’s trademark humour, as well as moving tributes to the libraries and bookshops that shape lives and spark imaginations. This is a perfect event for comedy lovers, bookworms and anyone who believes in the magic and necessity of libraries. Join us for an evening that will entertain, inspire, and remind us all of the critical role libraries play — and why we should fight for them to stay open.
Don’t miss this chance to laugh, reflect, and celebrate the importance of bringing our library back to Folkestone.
