a:dress Fast Fashion & Climate Crisis
Sorry, this event has sold out
Fashion is the second most-polluting industry in the world after oil and produces more greenhouse emissions than international flights and shipping combined. It is one of the largest consumers of freshwater on the planet.
Women are targeted by, and vulnerable to, the fashion industry. We are also disproportionately affected by climate crisis.
Join a:dress in this inclusive and fun workshop to explore how we can increase our ability to think clearly and act effectively to challenge fast fashion and climate crisis. The workshop will:
- explore the impact of the overconsumption and overproduction of clothing.
- show a short film featuring women artists who use creativity to take on the issues of fast fashion, sexism, racism and climate justice.
- feature a Subversive Catwalk of up-cycled, message-adorned clothes.
-provide opportunities to listen to each other about what these issues mean for us personally and what action is needed.
a:dress is a fast-growing collective of women, young women and girls who use up-cycled clothes, film, poetry, conversation and subversive catwalks to explore issues of fast fashion, sexism, racism and climate justice.
